Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are part of cosmetic dentistry, aimed to cover worn out tooth enamel, or cracks, chips, and spacing or unevenly aligned teeth. Since they are designed from transparent ceramic, they can give you a natural smile.
Dental veneers are used to cover worn out enamel, discoloration occurred due to drinking too much of tea or coffee, smoking, etc., or naturally worn out teeth due to aging, abnormal spacing from birth, and uneven teeth.
Dental veneers are of two types one is made out of porcelain and the other or composite resin, which are fabricated by in a dental laboratory; while composite veneers can also be implanted inside your mouth, directly at the clinic. These are attached to the teeth with resin cement. Porcelain veneers though expensive last longer.
Dental veneers that are indirectly fabricated – fabricated in a dental laboratory – are bonded to the teeth with various types of resin cement. Of the two options, porcelain veneers are longer lasting and more expensive.
Dental veneers are useful to cover up cracks in teeth. In minor cases a white filling is done to the cracked tooth, bur if you are planning to whiten your teeth, so that the dull, worn out or discolored teeth get a better look, dental veneers are appropriate.
Though some dentists discourage Dental veneers by suggesting teeth whitening can solve their problems, veneers are longer lasting. The veneers need to be shaped by a technician before fitting with custom made shells, which can permanently change the teeth and therefore if you have natural teeth which are adequate you should refrain from using veneers. However, if your teeth or dull and discolored, you can try dental veneers, because they are long lasting, and give you a better smile, and the aged face look can be done with.
Apart from serving the esthetic purposes, Dental veneers protect damaged teeth and veneers can even replace the necessity of going for a crown. Since the dental veneers are of very thin size, teeth need not be reshaped to bond them, and once bonded, they strongly hold on for a long time. But then, you should take care of this thin material. You may be asked by your dentist not to eat carrots and other hard food. Like all good things, you will be required to take care of veneers, but even before that consider whether veneers are at all necessary.
Simple cracks or chips can be filled by the cementing resin by a dentist, and if you have largely spaced out teeth, which are showing wide gaps between teeth, discolored with dark stains, due to which you are unable to smile or mix socially with people, you can only then decide to go to the dentist with the request for bonding a veneer. Porcelain dental veneers are much more lasting than an ordinary veneer.
